Fog of war and sight
You see only what your side sees, and the server sends you nothing more.
The map is dark beyond what your units and buildings light. It is a real fog: the server sends each player only what their side sees, so nothing hidden can be peeked at.
- Your buildings light the ground round them, the castle farthest.
- Sight is the same in every direction: the ground is flat, and a unit sees as far up and down the screen as across.
- A unit in a forest is seen only 50 % as far.
- An enemy building you have seen stays on your map as you last saw it, dimmed under the fog, until you see its place again: it may have been razed or finished meanwhile. Both castles are always shown.
- A Pirate Cannon’s ball lights the ground under it for its owner while it flies.
- The music and the alerts tell only what you see: an unseen attack stays unseen.
